The One Who Knows You

Updated: Jun 6

The One Who Knows You

Who is it that knows you are thinking? Not the voice in your head, not the thought itself, but the one who is aware of the thought, so quietly, so constantly, that you almost forget it is there.

If the thoughts stop, do you stop? If your name fades from memory, do you vanish with it?

Sit still for a moment. Listen not to the words, but to the silence they arise from. There is something beneath. Something prior. Something untouched by change.

The Rig Veda asks:

“Who knows the secret? Who here proclaims it? Whence was it born? Whence came this creation?” And answers not with knowledge but with awe - “Perhaps it formed itself, or perhaps it did not. The one who looks down on it, in the highest heaven, only he knows... or perhaps even he does not.”

There is no greater question than the one that dissolves the questioner. who is the witness behind the thought? the one who watches the watcher? the soundless gaze behind the eyes, that does not blink when the world turns dark,

it waits without waiting, it moves without moving, it is the sky behind every sky, the flame that burns without fire,

not born, not dying, not searching, yet always found, it is not what you believe, it is what remains when belief is gone,

to find it, stop seeking, to know it, stop knowing,

and when all else is silent, it speaks, not in language, but in the stillness between your questions...!! Ask now, not with words, but with your whole being: Who is the one that is aware of this moment?

Not the one who reads these words. Not the one who reacts. But the one who is aware that reading and reacting are happening.

If you sit with this question long enough, the question will burn away. And in what remains, you may not find an answer but you will find a presence. Unmoving. Unchanging. Undeniable.

Have you ever glimpsed it, the one who watches all that you call "you"? Or has it been there all along, patiently waiting for you to notice?
