The Depth Of Presence

Being present is not just a practice. It is a doorway.
Not just for yourself. But for others.
To be truly here is not simply to breathe slowly, or notice your surroundings. It is to listen with your whole being. To hold space for someone else to be seen. Presence is not passive. It is an active surrender. A softening of the self so that another can unfold in that presence.
When you listen without preparing to reply, without judgment, without timeline. You are no longer just in the present. You become the present. For youreslf and for others.
In the Tao Te Ching, it is written:
"Empty your mind of all thoughts. Let your heart be at peace."
True presence is not of the mind. It arises when the mind quiets, and the source behind it begins to listen.
This is the sacredness of presence: Not stillness for stillness' sake, but stillness that invites another into being.
do not just be still for yourself,
be still for the one who trembles,
be the sky that holds their storm,
the ground beneath their pause,
to listen is to touch what words cannot,
to be here is to open the door,
not for escape,
but for arrival,
you are not just a self,
you are a threshold.
Next time someone speaks, do not wait to answer. Wait to listen, wait to receive.
This is what presence means. Not being centered in yourself, but becoming the center where another feels safe to unfold.
Be the silence that listens so deeply, it brings others home.
You are not just listening. You are becoming the space that heals.
