The Path That Walks You

Updated: Apr 21

The Path That Walks You

You think you are walking the path. But what if the path is walking you? Each step you take toward clarity, did you choose it, or did it choose you?

Sometimes the seeking doesn’t begin with a question. Sometimes, it begins with an ache. A wordless longing that grows quietly beneath your plans, your successes, your identities.

You do not know when it began, only that something in you could no longer stay asleep.

Something stirred. And now, you cannot un-know the pull. You cannot un-feel the invitation.

In the Gospel of Thomas, it is written:

“If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you.”

Not as punishment. But as forgetting.

there is a light that will not wait forever, it knocks, but not loudly, but persistently, on the walls you’ve built around your name,

it does not speak in language, but in rhythm, in the pause before a breath, in the stillness after loss, in the quiet awe of a sky too vast to hold,

it is the path that walks you, even as you believe you are walking it, it appears when you stop looking, and disappears the moment you try to own it,

you do not move toward it, you are moved by it,

and in its silence, you are slowly unmade, not undone, but revealed, not less, but real.

Ask not, "Where am I going?" But rather, "What in me is already being called?"

The path may not have edges. The light may not cast shadows. But if you listen, not with ears, but with presence, you may notice that the steps are not yours at all. they belong to something deeper. something older. something that remembers you, even when you forget.

Have you ever felt that pull without direction, that knowing without thought?

Or has it been walking you all along? Share your presence in the comments below.
