The Question Beneath Question

Updated: Apr 21

The question beneath question

Sometimes the mind asks, but the heart already knows.

Not in language. Not in logic. But in the quiet certainty that comes before the thought even forms. We spend our lives asking questions. What am I here for? What comes next? Why does this ache follow me even in joy?

But beneath all those questions is one that waits. Not loudly. Not with urgency. But patiently, as if it knows it cannot be avoided forever.

Who is asking?

In the book of Ecclesiastes, it is whispered:

"He has set eternity in the human heart, yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end."

One of my favorite poet & mystic Rumi reminds us, "Try to be like the moon in the sky, always full but never speaking of it."

And Lao Tzu quietly offers, "Knowing others is intelligence, knowing yourself is true wisdom."

Maybe we're not here to answer every question. Maybe we're here to feel the weight of the unanswerable and stay open anyway.

you have asked so many things,

and the world has answers in pieces,

but have you asked the silence?

have you waited long enough?

to hear

what it doesn't say?

there is a door that opens,

only when you stop knocking,

there is a knowing,

that doesn't arrive with words,

you are not the one lost,

you are the one watching the search,

and that...

that is enough,

enough to begin again.

Pause not to solve but to soften. To see, to witness that the question is not separate from the one asking it. Let this be a moment where the seeking rests, and something deeper listens.

Leave a word below, or a pause, or nothing at all.
